People have different views on if social media is good or bad. I enjoy social media because people can use it for a good cause like the story I am about to share with you.
Last week my old high school played their last regular season game. They were projected to win big against the opposing team. They did just so but that wasn't the highlight of the game. The opposing team has a player with a disability and both coaches met before the game to have the young man play in one play and score a touchdown for his team. This may be the best memory or moment he has ever had in his lifetime.
After the game, a video was posted to social media and people in our area made a gofundme account for this young man and his family. This touched me very much. Without this video, without social media, this young man and his family might not have been recognized. Therefore, someone wouldn't have been able to make this gofundme account for this family.
This impacted me because it makes me realize that there's so much more in the world, there's so many people out there that have things tough. It makes me want to help others as often as I can and don't be selfish, be selfless.

Week 3 Joey DiLeo
Chapter 3
After reading this chapter about pregnancy and prenatal development, I come away with that everything that goes into your bodies contributes to how somebody develops. Also, that prenatal development can be very detailed or complex but remarkable at the same time. Remarkable because it can survive many generations. Adding that genetic contribution of someones parents occurs from the very beginning of the pregnancy.
Chapter 4
Birth is very complex and in this chapter it provides us with great information that can help people understand. Many years ago the impact of having a baby took the lives of many mothers. Luckily, to technology growing at a serious pace (in a good way), mothers usually make it through giving birth, pre-mature babies have a greater chance to live and be healthy physically and psychological development. Finally, I think its necessary to talk about the end of this chapter in which it discusses family adjustments when a baby is born. Having a newborn also means having to be financial stable and smarter with money while adding elements such as emotional, social, physical, and most of all mental.
Chapter 5
Next, infancy. Infants today are looked as potential. A baby is born ready to grow in many different ways. The first two years of a infants life are very important. You may notice growing in a positive way but also setbacks physically and psychologically. As parents, don't panic in these situations. Usually, an infant dealing with setbacks are not permanent. This shows that infants are actually strong and recover quickly from setbacks.
Finally, I wanted to bring up the table shown on page 124 called categories of temperament.. It's a great visual for parents to use and learn from. As parents, we tend to sometimes over exaggerate on things when our children are young or infants and this table may help in certain cases.

Learning Style
Personally, I am a visual learning. I've known this for a long time which definitely benefited me as a student. I was able to inform teaching ahead of time that I was a visual learner, therefore teachers were able to work with me when they were doing activities that maybe weren't visual. I think that everyone is different when it comes to learning styles and each different style is benefit to many students but in the end each student prefers or leans on one specific learning style.
When it comes to flipped learning, I think it is a great idea for maybe higher levels rather than younger levels. I truly believe that younger students would struggle with it because it pushed them to work more outside of school. Yes, there will be the students who are ahead and might like flipped learning but I think the number of students wouldn't prefer flipped learning and wouldn't handle it well. Personally, flipped learning would not have been beneficial to me as a younger student because like I said I am a visual learner and being at home working alone would not give me that visual that I need to learn the information.

Week 2 Joey DiLeo Human Development Theories
Every human is guided by some set of basic assumptions about how human development and why they do develop a certain way. Theories of human development can be grouped into even categories based on assumptions made. Learning theories emphasize the role of environment more than the role of biology in development says Watson, Skinner, and Bandura (pg. 55). Parents who go by the learning theory tend to be trainers which assumes they will not develop properly. Another theory is what Piaget came up with which was called cognitive theory in other words constructivism. He believes that children find new solutions or understandings by there own experiences over time. Then we have Erikson's theory where he believes in the psychosocial stages which every human experiences. Freud: psychoanalytic theory covers a lot such as strengths and weaknesses, defensive mechanisms, ego, superego, and psychosexual development which all those play significant roles in human development. Finally, if parents adopt a systems of theories of development they become partners with their children. In this case, the children are influencing the parents as well as the parents influencing the children.
Finding out theories of human development can be interesting yet very necessary for people to get to understand. Definitely as a future parent. I think it can open ones eyes to what they can do to benefit themselves and family members around them. Personally, I would find pieces of all the theories and hopefully that will give me that partnership for me and my future children.

Week 1 Joey DiLeo Mobius Strip
Mobius strip is something very powerful and interesting, personally I have never heard of it which made it more interesting to connect with myself. It explains that there is two sides to a strip, the way I look at it is internal and external. The external is like your outside life in which you are open about a lot or certain things and when is comes to internal it's like your inner strength, beliefs, faiths, etc. For me its my faith. Children are usual taught this at school because they start to realize what things or beliefs are to be told to others and what not to be told. We put up a inner wall that we only allow the people who believe the same as you or the ones you really trust. We build a center circle by connecting it. The center still is looked as a wall whereas you still only allow certain people in there. Then comes the mobius strip, when you connect in a odd shape that shows internal and external sides connect with each other in a continuous fashion.
Learning the mobius strip has benefit me in many ways such as it opened my eyes to when I do become a teacher in the real world because I will have many students who put up walls like this and sooner later those students will slowly start to open up to me as a teacher. After learning about mobius strip, I really thought in depth on how it connects to my life. It definately does because I was the type of quiet student who kept to myself in many ways and it affected me. I wish that I was able to open up and find that connection between internal and external.

Physical Education Removal
Recently, schools are wanting to go away from physical education or wanting shorter P.E. classes and more time in classroom setting. Those teachers want more classroom time because they believe they aren't given enough time throughout a year to accomplish what the state requires them to do. Another reason is they tend to believe that students come back to the classroom after P.E. not ready to work. I believe this is false because statistics show that giving students a chance to get out of the classroom for an hour a day help students be more alert and successful in academic endeavors. Also, for younger students being in a classroom could be counter productive.

Technology in Education
Technology in education continues to grow every year, I believe it is great for students now and for the future. Here's why. I grew up in a time when there wasn't much technology if any at all. Later on in my education such as a little high of high school and college more technology was involved and it benefit me. Personally, I am a visual learning and having technology in front of me benefited my grades unlike when I was in grammar school when teachers were mostly lecture teachers and didn't have technology to help visual or just didn't find ways to be creative for visual students. Another thing nowadays students can depend on is not having to bring home homework because everything can be done on tablets, iPads, etc. rather than bringing home there everyday textbooks and homework assignments which younger students tend to forget.
One negative aspects technology can have on education is that there are plenty of schools out there that don't have the funding for technology within the classroom. That gives other schools that do have funding an advantage and these students who go to schools with technology a disadvantage. Another negative aspect would be some students tend to be to involved in technology and I believe that can hurt them because there are going to be times in the real world when they won't be able to depend on technology and I think that giving instruction outside of technology will benefit students. Therefore, finding the median of both technology within the classroom and without technology can be a huge benefit for students.
